Goat Unloading Property In The Compound

Disgraced Rabbi Daniel Greer AKA “The Goat” was convicted of child rape and sentenced to 20 years, suspended after 12 years, by Judge Jon Alander. The Goat is currently living in a cage in the Connecticut Correctional Institution in the basement in Cheshire, in solitary confinement. The Goat raped Eli Mirlis and Avi Hack when they were teenagers. Avi Hack’s father Harold Hack was the Goat’s best friend and business partner for 30 years. The Goat and Harold spent 30 years acquiring 40 properties in the Edgewood neighborhood, along with lucrative State and City grants and contracts. They greased the palms of politicians for years. They formed numerous non profit entities so they wouldn’t have to pay a penny in property taxes to the City of New Haven. They had a few partners in crime who assisted them: Yale Law graduate Mordechai Biser, who ran the Goat rape school for many years before Avi Hack took over, Yale Law graduate Ed Zelinsky (father of disgraced US Attorney Aaron Zelinsky) and his wife Doris “spite fence” Zelinsky, who pulled the local political strings, Attorney William Gallagher, now deceased, who did the Goat’s legal work and stole over a million dollars from his clients, as well as the Goat’s loyal sons Dov and Ezi Greer. The Goat’s 3 daughters skipped town when they were old enough to drive, never to return to the compound.

Eli Mirlis obtained a $15 million jury verdict against the Goat in Federal court after he sued the Goat for sexual molestation. Eli obtained a judgment against the Goat personally and against the Goat’s child rape school, ie., the Yeshiva of New Haven. Eli attached the Goat’s waterfront condo in Newport and the Goat’s abode in New Haven on Edgewood Park. Eli sued all of the Goat’s non profit entities, which included Edgewood Village, Edgewood Corners, Friends of HaGan, and Edgewood Elm Housing, on the grounds that said non profits were alter egos of the Goat, a sham to avoid creditors. The Goat gloated about how he was called “Mayor of Edgewood” for 30 years because he owned so many properties in the Edgewood neighborhood.

The Federal lawsuit against the Goat’s non profit entities is still pending in Federal court. Eli’s lawyer hasn’t tried to attach the properties owned by the Goat’s non profits. Eli’s lawyer should file a motion to attach the Goat’s non-profit buildings. Yesterday the Goat listed a three family property for sale at 928 Elm Street. The property is now listed as “sale pending.” It is hard to believe that this property went to contract on the same day that it was listed.

Edgewood Village is a non profit corporation that was formed by the Goat and his wife Sarah Greer, AKA “the Ewe” back in 1994. The current individuals who are on the Board of Directors are the Goat, the Ewe, Matthew Reinecke and George Bussmann, Jr. I never heard of reprobates Reinecke or Bussmann.

The Goat could have chosen any of the 40 different properties to list for sale. Why did the Goat choose to list 928 Elm Street as the first property for sale in the compound? According to the New Haven land records 928 Elm Street was purchased by the Goat from Michael and Rosalind Koskoff and Sylvann Parmele on December 21, 1995 for $90K. Michael Koskoff, who died last year, was one of the partners of the Koskoff Law Firm, the same firm that Mirlis hired that won the $15 million verdict against the Goat. Michael and Rosalind Koskoff and Sylvann Parmele purchased the property back in 1985 for $225K. Is this the Goat’s idea of a joke? The Goat is selling a property he purchased from Attorney Koskoff while Mirlis has no way of getting at those funds. The Federal court just ordered a hold on Mirlis’ case against the Goat’s non profits because the $15 million appeal has not yet been decided by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. If the Goat gets the $15 million verdict overturned then Mirlis would have no right to go after the Goat’s non profits. If the Goat loses his appeal then Mirlis will be able to pursue the case against the Goat’s non profits. The appeal was argued last summer. The wheels of justice move very slowly, while the 79 year old Goat moves like a cat.

The Goat will no doubt use the $250K that he gets from the sale of 928 Elm street to pay his expensive lawyers. The Goat has no mortgage on the property. The Goat has no tax liens on the property because the Goat is registered, in prison, as a non profit.

The Goat needs $250K to pay the pricey corporate law firm of Day Pitney, whom he hired to defend his non profits in the Federal lawsuit. The Goat also needs the money to pay Attorney Richard Emmanuel, who is an expert in criminal appeals, to handle the Goat’s criminal appeal. The Goat also hired Jonathan Einhorn to defend the Ewe against a fraudulent conveyance lawsuit filed against the Ewe. The Goat transferred $200K to the Ewe right after the $15 million jury verdict. The Goat has Attorney Stuart Margolis on retainer as his eviction attorney. The Goat hired the President of the New Haven Jewish Community Center, ie., Attorney Jeffrey Sklarz, to defend the Goat in the foreclosure lawsuit that Mirlis filed against the Goat’s Nightmare on Elm Street Yeshiva building, which is still pending. The Goat hired Attorney David Grudberg from Carmody & Torrence, who is handling the Goat’s appeal of the $15 million verdict and who is also defending the Goat against the Connecticut Grievance Committee. The Grievance Committee is trying to suspend the Goat’s law license. David Grudberg asked the Court to delay suspension proceedings against the Goat until he can confer with his client in jail and determine whether the Goat has any defenses to the Grievance Committee’s suspension proceedings. Chutzpah! The Grievance Committee objected to Grudberg’s request for a delay. Judge James Abrams scheduled the Goat’s hearing for 2/24 and has it scheduled as a status conference, rather than a hearing in open court, which means it will most likely be conducted behind closed doors in the Judge’s chambers, foiling my opportunity to cover the proceedings!

    1. In foreclosure. The court has not yet ruled on the value of the property or the date that title should transfer to Mirlis. Briefs were just filed a few weeks ago.
