Gang of gonifs Rob goyisha banks of $30M

Three religious Ukrainian Jews from Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, pulled off the biggest safe deposit box bank robbery in human history. Igor Berkovich AKA Garri Smith, Alex Levin and Val Cooper AKA Valeriy Kononenko, and their unnamed co-conspirators walked into numerous banks in Eastern Europe during business hours, opened safe deposit boxes and walked out with gold bars, jewelry, and other valuables. Their total take was $30 million, which they laundered in the United States.

How were these 3 gonifs able to waltz into banks, break into safe deposit boxes, and walk out with hundreds of thousands of dollars in valuables without getting caught? They did their homework. They only chose banks that didn’t have security cameras in their safe deposit box rooms. The 3 gonifs opened up safe deposit boxes of their own using fake passports. They would then go into the safe deposit room armed with a borescope, which is used in medical procedures such as colonoscopies. Most bank robbers are equipped with guns, masks, getaway cars and ropes to tie up their victims. These guys didn’t wear a mask. They wore kippahs but no masks. The only weapon they hid in their briefcase was a harmless borescope that is used to look up people’s tuchuses. The 3 gonifs used the borescope to peer into the key holes of safe deposit boxes and take pictures. The pictures were used to make keys. They went back to the bank and used their keys to rob safe deposit boxes. They walked out without anyone suspecting a thing. Ingenious! The problem was that they made one fatal mistake. If you want to lead a successful life of crime you cannot afford to make any mistakes. One mistake can cost you ten years in Otisville. They didn’t realize that one bank had a security camera hidden in the safe deposit box room. One of the guys was caught on the security camera while he robbed a safe deposit box donning a black kippah. The picture above is from the bank’s surveillance camera. The picture below is of a colonoscopy. I would have posted a picture of my own colonoscopy but I was heavily sedated on propofol and was unable to take a selfie.

The 3 gonifs were very successful at what they did. It took multiple law enforcement agencies, in the United States and abroad, to crack this case. The investigation was a joint operation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the NYPD, Interpol and multiple law enforcement agencies located in Eastern Europe. Berkovich, Levin and Cooper robbed safe deposit boxes at banks located in the Ukraine, Latvia, Russia, North Macedonia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Moldova. Their scheme fell apart when one of their associates, an unnamed co-conspirator, now a cooperator, got caught on a security camera at a bank in Latvia and was busted by the Latvian police. Val Cooper told this unnamed co-conspirator to lie to law enforcement authorities. Val also attempted to bribe a Latvian law enforcement official. The law enforcement official demanded too much gelt from Val so Val decided not to pay the bribe. But Val was caught on tape attempting to bribe the official.

The Justice Department asked Federal Judge Robert Levy to lock up Berkovich, Levin and Cooper, with no bond, pending their trials. The Government argued that they found fake passports and go bags when they raided the homes of the 3 gonifs. The Government argued that Cooper was a flight risk and had a criminal record in the former Soviet Union. Cooper’s lawyers objected to Cooper being held without bond and argued that Cooper never actually robbed safe deposit boxes. Cooper was in charge of laundering the $30 million that was stolen from the safe deposit boxes. Cooper also argued that he is married and that his family lives in Brooklyn. One daughter is a doctor and another is in dental school. I wonder if Cooper’s daughters helped Cooper obtain the borescope that was used to take pictures of the safe deposit box locks. More co-conspirators! Judge Levy would only agree to release Levin on a $500K bond. Berkovich and Cooper are on ice pending trial. Berkovich is at MCC in Manhattan, where Jeffrey Epstein killed himself, and Cooper is at MDC in Brooklyn. They can’t go to Otsiville until they are sentenced, assuming they eventually plead guilty or are convicted by a jury. I suspect Levin dropped the dime on Cooper and Berkovich, as the Justice Department did not try to keep Levin locked up pending trial. There is no honor amongst thieves!

Valeriy Kononenko had his name legally changed to Val Cooper when he got wind that various foreign governments were closing in on him. Igor Berkovich had his name legally changed to Garri Smith. Too little too late. You can fool 10 different law enforcement agencies for only so long. Your mazel will eventually run out. Eventually you will get caught and have to answer for your crimes. You will end up in Otisville doing teshuva, which will hasten the coming of Moshiach. Moshiach NOW!

RIP O-LEE ANTHONY: 82 year old skid row Dallas resident Ole Anthony passed away last month. Ole (O-lee) took down hundreds of televangelists hucksters, including $80 million Rev. Tilton. Ole had a large following in Dallas that investigated Christian religious fanatical fraudsters. Ole took a vow of poverty and lived in the slums of Dallas. Ole had a daily Christian prayer group which he didn’t start until he had a minyan of ten humans. Ole also held Passover services. Ole’s early life was one of crime, but he eventually found God after he was given a choice between going to jail or the military. Ole went into the Air Force and turned his life around. Ole’s famous quote: “There’s more fraud in the name of God than any other kind of fraud in the world.” Its too bad Ole didn’t get a chance to visit Otisville before he died.

  1. Many private safe deposit boxes only contain documents useless for third parties. I wonder how they chose which boxes to rob. Or did they make keys to many boxes? That would be quote significant amount of work, and time spent in the bank to scan all keyholes, and then again opening them and searching through piles of junk. This may be suspicious.
