Rabbi Greer, a graduate of Yale Law School, operated a child sex trafficking ring in his Jewish boarding school with his assistant Avi Hack for decades. Avi Hack was the Principal of Greer’s school.  Prior to Avi, the school was run by Mordechai Biser, a Yale Law grad and counsel for Agudah Israel, who has recently passed away. Avi was molested by Greer as a child starting when Avi was 16 years old.  This sexual relationship continued long into Avi’s adulthood while Avi was Principal of Greer’s school.  Avi Hack used his position as Principal of the Greer school to recruit teenage boys to Greer’s school, where they were molested by both Greer and Avi.

Greer’s reputation in the insular Orthodox Jewish world was that he ran a highly disciplined school which molded wayward children back into the Orthodox fold.  If abusive techniques were utilized the parents looked the other way.  A child who rebelled against his strict religious upbringing was an embarrassment to his parents in the Orthodox Jewish community.                                                                   

Greer’s connection to the New Haven Police Department and the local political Democratic machine intimidated any rebellious out-of-town teenager who arrived in New Haven to attend Greer’s school.  The New Haven Police Department housed a police substation in a Greer owned office building.  The substation was located within the complex of Greer’s dorms and school buildings where Greer raped students.

Greer was a member of the New Haven Police Board for fifteen years and served as chairman of the New Haven Redevelopment Agency.  The Chief of Police regularly spoke at Greer’s annual fundraising “gatherings.”    

Greer was a fixture of the State and local Democratic political machine for decades.  Greer cashed in on his political connections with millions of dollars funneled to his non-profit entities in the form of State and City grants, tax breaks, private donations, free school building, utility discounts, government food vouchers, and government jobs for his friends and relatives. 

Greer had the most powerful Democratic members of the State government under his thumb.  Greer had politicians, business leaders, lawyers as well as judges at his beck and call.  In 1992 Governor Jerry Brown paid a visit to Greer’s house when Brown was running for President.

In 2002 Greer spoke before the State Legislature about the moral and legal ramifications of a bill introduced to permit gay marriage in the State of Connecticut.  Greer claimed to represent his Yeshiva, Agudah Israel, and all Orthodox Jewish schools in the State of Connecticut.  Greer stated before the State Legislature: “The traditional institution of marriage with all the social and ethical benefits it imparts, would be seriously eroded and perhaps destroyed. That message, we fear, does substantial violence to the values in which civilized societies have been founded from time in memorial, not hundreds of years, thousands of years.”

For many years rumors swirled in the insular New York metropolitan Orthodox Jewish community that Greer was a pedophile. Orthodox Jewish New Haven resident Senator Joseph Leiberman, deceased, had nothing to do with Greer.  Yet Richard Blumenthal, who lived outside the Orthodox community, and far from New Haven, every year attended Greer’s annual fundraising “gatherings.”

Nobody ever came forward to speak out against Greer.  For decades Greer sued or threatened to sue anyone who spoke ill about Greer. Greer was the one who was always on the offensive, leveling slanderous attacks against Jews and Gentiles whom he felt threatened by.  Greer was the Roy Cohn of New Haven. 

Larry Noodles was the only person who dared to publicly speak out against Rabbi Greer in his blog. After many blog postings about Greer a former student filed a federal child molestation lawsuit against Greer.  The blog must have played a pivotal role in the $15 million jury award in the lawsuit against Greer. It was one of the largest jury verdicts against a clergyman in the history of the State of Connecticut.

After the $15 million civil jury verdict, Noodles demanded that the State arrest Greer.  Noodles publicized the names and contact information of the State’s Attorney’s Office and encouraged New Haven citizens to demand justice.  Greer was arrested two months later in 2018.  It took a tenacious blogger and a $15 million jury verdict to force the New Haven police to arrest Greer.  Yet Greer’s co-conspirators and enablers were left unscathed.  Greer’s sons and their families skipped town.  Avi Hack and his father Harold Hack skipped town.   Greer’s powerful friends may have protected him from arrest and prosecution.  Greer’s private boarding school operated without a license for many years until Noodles brought it to the attention of the press. 

On the day of Greer’s arrest Noodles drove to his house in order to conduct an interview with Greer.  As Noodles approached Greer’s house his wife walked out to pick up a package on her front porch.  Noodles asked her a few questions.  She ignored him and he went home. Ten minutes later two New Haven police cruisers parked in front of the Noodles house and asked questions about the visit to Greer’s house.  The officers looked at Noodles driver’s license and asked that Noodles stay away from the Goat house.       

The victim’s criminal complaint against Greer gathered dust at the police department for over a year. The police never investigated Avi Hack or Greer’s family members who protected Greer’s child sex trafficking operation for decades.  The halfhearted prosecution of Greer was led by a nearly retired Jewish female prosecutor, who made major blunders which almost resulted in a dismissal of the charges. 

Greer is locked up 20 hours a day in solitary confinement, for his own protection. Greer is not eligible for release until 2032. Greer’s 86th birthday is June 16th, 2025. Greer’s attorneys have filed numerous petitions to try to get him released early for health reasons and other grounds. Greer is incarcerated at the MacDougall Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield CT, not far from the Massachusetts border near Springfield. Greer’s attorneys have released his medical records and disclosed his medical information over the years in motions. Greer has a long list of medical ailments, not unusual for someone who is pushing 90. MacDougall is a prison with medical facilities where elderly and infirm inmates are incarcerated. But medical care in prison doesn’t come close to the care provided on the outside. Greer’s supporter Rabbi Albert Feldman, who ran the Westville Shul for decades, recently passed away at 90 years old. Feldman wrote a lengthy letter on Westville letterhead in support of Greer to Greer’s sentencing Judge Alander. Westville had to publicly disavow itself from Feldman’s letter and state that Feldman did not have permission to use the Westville letterhead. Feldman wrote the following: “Shortly after their arrival in town, the Greers started what was to become a first-rate Jewish elementary school… Some families of my congregation sent their children to The Gan School, and I, myself have visited and sat in on classes.  Numerous graduates of the School went on to attend the finest universities and are today leaders in their communities… I can fully vouch for Rabbi Daniel Greer’s upright moral and ethical character and behavior in all situations.”        

The State should stop paying for Hospice for Rabbi Greer, let him pay for his own medical treatment. Greers co-conspirators should be brought to justice.  Open up jail cells for Sarah Greer, Avi Hack, Ezi Greer, Harold Hack, Dov Greer and other unnamed co-conspirators whose elections were funded by Greer gold.
