Max Lieberman Moving from Boro Park to Otisville Prison

Menachem “Max” Lieberman, of Boro Park, just got sentenced to 54 months in Otisville Federal prison for his role as a leader in a Federal criminal school voucher and grant conspiracy involving Martin Handler, Harold Schwartz, Isidore Handler, Ben Werczberger, and Arie Rangott. Rabbi Martin “Mendy” Handler, of Boro Park, is already locked up in a Federal prison camp in Montgomery Alabama. Martin got 58 months. Arie Rangott is still doing time in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Mendy Handler lived in a $2 million home in Montebello NY.
Before he got locked up Mendy Handler spoke at an Aleph Institute event in which he described how the Feds banged on his door in Boro Park at 5 AM with an arrest warrant. His wife answered the door in her pajamas. He came outside in his pajamas wondering what was going on. The Feds told him they were arresting him. He asked if he could go inside and change into his black pants, white shirt, black hat, black jacket and black shoes. The Feds told him he had to change on his front stoop. Talk about humiliating! Mendy warned the audience of Boro Park black hatters to obey the law, “especially in the business we are in” and not suffer the consequences that he had to endure at the hands of the Federal government. The Feds love to bust criminals at 5AM when they are half awake. The odds of getting a confession in a semi conscious state without a lawyer and without a cup of coffee go way up at five in the morning.
This Monsey – Boro Park – Ramapo – Satmar criminal syndicate operated day care centers in East Flatbush and Borough Park. They scammed millions of dollars for monies from the State of New York for monies that were paid for Head Start programs, ACS grants, Department of Agriculture food vouchers, and other government programs. They lied to the government about their day care centers, some of which were not even operating, and even closed due to COVID, and yet they still collected money from the government for non-existent students. Lieberman presented close to a hundred letters of support from parents of students who actually attended his schools. The parents of the non-existent students apparently did not write any letters of support.
Lieberman was also charged with obstruction of justice when he attempted to bribe a whistleblower who snitched on one of Lieberman’s day care companies. Lieberman told his criminal associates to give the whistleblower a “bundle of cash and say this is what you want, here you have it, a whole pack . . . I’m talking about big numbers, show enough, walk away and be happy.” Lieberman also attempted to get a member of his board, a guy named Yehuda Zorger to lie to the State investigators.
Lieberman’s attorneys argued to Federal Judge Jennifer H. Rearden that Lieberman never actually paid out any bribes, at least not that the government could prove. The whistleblower did drop his complaint he filed with the government. Judge Rearden ended up giving Lieberman a sentence within the Federal guidelines suggested by the Department of Justice.
Lieberman was famous for doing a HUGE mitzvah long before he became infamous for being the ring leader in a Satmar crime scene. When Lieberman was just 13 years old he was the witness to the murder of diamond dealer Rabbi Chaskel Werzberger in Williamsburg. Corrupt NYPD cop Lou Scarcella was assigned to the case. Scarcella told Lieberman to pick out the White guy “with the big nose” in the lineup. David Ranta was the White guy with the big nose. Ranta ended up doing 23 years in prison before Lieberman came forward and reported that Scarcella was a crooked cop. Lieberman’s act of exposing Scarcella led to the release of hundreds of prisoners wrongfully convicted.
