City of New Haven Ends the Goat’s Tax Exempt Status

For many decades pedophile “Rabbi” Daniel Greer AKA “the Goat” was able to use his child rape victim Avi Hack, whom he groomed to be his full time adult goomah, ie., paramour, to recruit teenage boys to the compound for the Goat and Avi to molest. Avi was appointed full time principal of the Yeshiva of New Haven, a boarding school for high school boys that Avi and the Goat marketed to NYC families as a large lush campus with individualized attention that would help “troubled boys.” The Goat purposefully kept the school small. The entire high school may have consisted of no more than five or ten boys. At some points in time there were more teachers than students. The tuition the Goat charged was a fraction of what most yeshivas charged. EM, the victim who won the $15 million jury verdict and helped put the Goat behind bars was the perfect target. EM came from a poor, broken home in New Jersey with regular visits from Social Services. The Goat’s yeshiva offered EM an escape from his troubled family life, until the Goat started raping him. The Goat regularly threatened to send EM back to his troubled family in New Jersey if EM did not “behave.”
For decades the Goat and his loyal assistants Avi Hack, Dov Greer, Ezi Greer, and Harold Hack operated his child sex trafficking operation in the shadow of Yale University, where the Goat went to law school. The wives of the Goat, Avi, Dov and Ezi all knew what was going on, and remained silent while the Goat regularly put their children on his lap in the front of his shul and read words of “Torah” to them, or took them inside his private “office” in the school. This all went on under the noses of numerous New Haven Mayors as well as the New Haven Police Department, and the State of Connecticut, which never realized that the Goat’s school was unlicensed, until I brought it to the attention of the media. State and local politicians attended the Goat’s annual fundraising dinners for years. Richard Blumenthal was regular speaker.
Not only did the Goat rape teenage boys, he also raped the City of New Haven by taking almost 40 multi-family properties, an elementary school, the Goat’s personal automobiles, and an office building that housed the New Haven Police substation, off the City of New Haven tax rolls. The Goat’s tax burden was shifted to the homeowners of the City of New Haven, resulting in everyone else paying higher property taxes. Yale does the same thing, on a much larger scale, but this story is about the greedy Goat, not the belligerent Bulldog!
Some years ago I filed a complaint with the IRS wondering why a pedophile Rabbi sitting in prison was still getting tax exempt status for his various non profit entities. The IRS did nothing. I don’t think they even replied to my complaint. The IRS rarely investigates non-profit entities. The CT Attorney General never investigated the Goat’s non-profit status. Non-profits seem to be immune from government scrutiny. The entire non-profit system should be shut down. Everyone should pay their fair share of taxes, even the “non profits” which today are the most profitable businesses in the economy.
The City of New Haven recently cancelled the Goat’s non-profit status on his numerous shady non-profit entities, resulting in the Goat recently filing numerous lawsuits against the City. Talk about chutzpah! The Goat’s yeshiva building, which he purchased from the City many years ago for next to nothing, has been empty for years. The Goat’s three story office building on the corner of Norton Street and Whalley Avenue, which the Police Department rented for years from the Goat for a police substation, has been empty for years. Only one room in the entire office building is occupied by the Goat’s secretary, who collects the rent on multi family properties owned by the Goat’s non profit entities.
The Goat’s non profits were forced to sell off a good number of properties to pay EM his $15 million judgment, but the Goat still has a sizeable inventory. The Goat has no mortgages on his buildings, and probably still pays himself, and his wife, who is also on the board of the non-profits, large “officer” salaries from these rental payments. The only reason the Goat agreed to sell his buildings is because EM agreed not to reject the Goat’s request that he be released from prison early. In spite of EM’s agreement, the Judge denied the Goat’s request to be released early. A couple of years later the Judge allowed the Goat to be released early upon the request of the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office. The New Haven State’s Attorney requested that the Goat be released in order to settle the Goat’s habeas corpus petition that challenged my participation in the prosecution of the Goat. I had provided invaluable assistance to State’s Attorney Maxine Wilensky, who almost “screwed up” the entire case. I believe the State’s Attorney’s Office did not wish to be publicly embarrassed by having me testify in court about how the State almost “screwed up” the Goat case, so they sprung the Goat.
I don’t know why the City recently decided to revoke the Goat’s non-profit status, but if the Goat is forced to pay full taxes then your New Haven tax bill on your house and automobile should go down very soon, just ask Mayor Elicker, or Paul Bass, whoever answers their phone first. In addition to the generous tax exempt status, the City used to give the Goat large handouts of money, formally known as “grants,” to beautify the Edgewood neighborhood. The Goat used to be called the “Mayor of Edgewood” and was handed hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, without any oversight, to plant trees and water the grass in the Edgewood neighborhood. The Goat also got State grants and loans to rehabilitate his stock of three family houses, and construct large 8 foot fences around them, as a barrier to keep the kids in and prying eyes out.

The Goat recently hired an attorney he has used for many years, ie., Stuart Margolis, to handle his tax appeals challenging the City’s revocation of the Goat’s non-profit status. Margolis has been paid a lot of Goat gold over the years, representing the Goat in eviction matters and other legal matters. Stuart’s wife, now retired, used to be a Federal Magistrate in New Haven. The Goat has employed many prominent attorneys in his various legal matters over the years, including former CT Supreme Court Justice Chase Rogers, who works for politically influential Day Pitney, and Alan Dershowitz, not to mention Willie the Dow. Day Pitney also hired former CT Supreme Court Justice Richard Robinson, who was subjected to ethical scrutiny for working on an appeal for Pitney in the same case that he had heard as a Supreme Court Judge. One of the attorneys filed an ethical complaint. The CT Judge hearing the ethical complaint found no rules had been violated by former Judge Robinson.
The original Goat lawyer was prominent New Haven legal ethics expert William Gallagher, who had an office building in the Goat’s Edgewood neighborhood right across the street from Ed and Doris Zelinsky, former real estate “partners” with the Goat. Gallagher passed away on Xmas day 2013. After he died his financial records revealed that almost two million dollars of his clients’ funds had disappeared. Goats of a feather flock together! Legal ethics expert Gallagher always used to say he had to work until the day he died. I once posted a joke on my blog that attorney “ethics” was an “oxymoron.” Ethics Panel attorney Douglas Mahoney ruthlessly attacked me at my reinstatement hearing about such a posting, how dare I say such a thing about attorneys! My reinstatement hearing turned into a full blown Salem witch trial on the “appropriateness” of this blog. I was found guilty of “inappropriate” blogging by the legal ethicists, without a mention of the First Amendment. A lifetime suspension was imposed against my law license by the “Constitution State.” I didn’t stand a chance with the State Bar, unless I had the right “connections” in Hartford, at least according to two prominent CT ethics attorney experts who looked at my case, ie., Attorney Suzanne Sutton, and James Sullivan. Sullivan wrote a 400 page legal treatise on legal ethics and told me that I was dead on arrival without the right connections. He could have said that in one page, why write a 400 page book?
Mahoney filed ethical complaints against attorney John Mills, a highly reputable attorney who practiced for over 30 years with a spotless record. Mills got dragged through the courts for years with appeals and threats of suspension of his law license because Mills had the nerve to question a Judge’s decision in a court filing. Yet tasteless trope filled attorney advertisements blasted on billboards are never questioned by guys like Doug Mahoney. Mahoney must have no problem with pictures of Brooke Goff in the boxing ring with George Foreman and bouncing basketballs with her Black client, or the lawyer in Fair Haven who calls himself “El Abogado Judio” ie., “the Jew lawyer” in Spanish. Why hasn’t Mahoney filed an ethics complaint against “the Jew Lawyer” or against Brooke Goff, who happens to be married to a Connecticut Judge?

Doug Mahoney’s law partner, ethics panel attorney Cindy Robinson ruthlessly attacked me for posting a joke on my blog with the words “blond bimbo.” She publicly excoriated me, demanding to know why I had posted such a misogynous comment when the “blond bimbo” was someone’s “mother” or somebody’s “child.” The only child at that hearing was Cindy Robinson, who had a tantrum because I dared to exercise my First Amendment rights. Attorney Norm Pattis used to be publicly outspoken about the legal profession all the time. Not any more. Not after Judge Bellis suspended him in the Alex Jones case for “ethical” violations, which was overturned on appeal. Judge Bellis also filed an ethics complaint against attorney John Mills that resulted in lengthy and costly appeals for Mr. Mills. Judge Bellis recently issued a ten year disbarment against Black civil rights attorney Josephine Miller Smalls, which was sharply criticized and not recognized by the Connecticut Federal District Court. Yet a tight lipped corporate attorney named Guy McDonough had recently been quickly fully readmitted into the CT Bar, with the condition that he attend AA meetings, after he had no less than three DUI cases against him. The CT Bar seems to be more concerned with the danger to the public from the words of Norm Pattis than the driving record of Guy McDonough.
The Goat still has former Alderman Elizabeth McCormack listed as a member of his non-profit entities, as well as his loyal secretary Jean Ledbury and his wife Sarah Greer, and Rabbi David Bleich of New York City, whom the Goat listed as an expert witness in Jewish law who was supposed to testify in the Goat’s child molestation civil trial. Bleich never showed up to testify. He was probably giving an important shiur on something important, far more important than the Goat trial. Ledbury and Sarah Greer both testified in the Goat’s civil trial, which resulted in a $15 million verdict against the Goat.
